On October 26, 2019, the Second Symposium on the Construction of the Rule of Law in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area（GBA）was held in Nanshan District, Shenzhen. This event received sponsorship from the Department of Justice of Guangdong, Shenzhen Nanshan District People's Government，and was co-organized by Justice Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Lan Hai Institute, Benchmark Chambers International & Benchmark International Mediation Center (BCI & BIMC). More than 160 guests attended the ceremony, including representatives from the Ministry of Justice of China, and from government agencies, arbitration and mediation institutions, law firms and research institutions in the GBA. The ceremony witnessed discussions among guests on the construction of a mediation platform in the GBA and the business environment under the rule of law.
Yu Xinguo, member of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, Jiang Xilin, director of the Justice Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, and Huang Xiangyue, chief executive of Nanshan District Government Shenzhen Municipality, granted the appointment certificates to the first batch of mediators appointed by BCI & BIMC. It is reported that the BIC & BIMC first appointed a total of 55 mediators, including mediators from the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, the Netherlands, Italy and other countries and regions.
