On April 29, 2019, the series of activities centering around Intellectual Property Rights (hereinafter referred to as IPR) Protection in the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area were successfully held in Shenzhen. The two sessions in this event include the Symposium on Difficulties and Hot Issues in IPR Protection in the Greater Bay Area, and the Training on IPR Protection in the Greater Bay Area. The latter session was jointly hosted by Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court, the Industry and Commerce Bureau of Shenzhen (Intellectual Property Office of Shenzhen), the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Legal Training Exchange Center, and Shenzhen Branch of the National Lawyer College, with BCI & BIMC (formerly known as BCI) being the organizer.
Five senior judges from the intermediate court and district courts in Shenzhen with abundant experience in the field of IPR trials shared and exchanged their views on practical issues in IPR infringement as well as effective protection and remedies of IPR. Bian Fei, chief judge of Shenzhen Intellectual Property Court= hosted the training session while Chen Mingang, director of the Intellectual Property Promotion Division of Industry and Commerce Bureau of Shenzhen, together with Dong Shi, deputy director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Legal Training Exchange Center, were present at the event and delivered speeches.
This event attracted nearly 200 legal professionals in the area of IP, including judges from the intermediate court and district courts in Shenzhen, law firms, and high-tech corporates in Shenzhen. Participants from corporates and IP practitioners expressed their expectations for more exchange and training programs of this kind organized by BCI & BIMC, as such programs held in the World Intellectual Property Day helped them gain more aspects into the innovative development and practice in IPR protection.
